Memory Cafe to Showcase Cooney's Photography March 18
March 1, 2014

Jamestown’s Memory Café will be hosting a photography exhibit as a special event on March 18th at 2pm at Comfort Today, 17 Gifford Avenue, Jamestown. The collection, entitled “Random Shots”, was taken by David Cooney, one of the café’s regular attendees.

David and his wife Anita have been attending the Memory Café for several months. Anita has been diagnosed with early stage Alzheimer’s, and David is her sole caretaker. The Cooney’s, who have been married for 58 years, have lived in the Jamestown area for most of their lives. They have 3 children, 8 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. They are both avid birdwatchers and nature enthusiasts, and David has documented this passion with over 40 years of photography. His photographs have won several awards, and have been shown previously at the Jamestown Audubon Center. The featured presentation will include nature photography and other interesting subjects that David has captured over time.

The Memory Café is excited to showcase the talent of one of its regular participants, while at the same time allowing the community to see what the café has to offer. The free event is open to the general public, and will include refreshments.

Regular meetings of the Memory Café are held for individuals who suffer from dementia and their caregivers or loved ones on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month at Comfort Today, an affiliate of the Tanglewood Group. The bi-monthly meetings are free and reservations are appreciated, but not required. For more information about this special event or the Memory Café itself, please contact Melissa D’Agostino at 488-9434.
